Paul Ferrara served as a panelist for this seminar sponsored by the New York City Bar Assocation. New York's passage of a marriage equality law extended many of the rights, privileges and obligations of marriage to same-sex couples who wish to marry in New York. Because federal law continues to disregard same-sex marriage, this raises complex legal issues. On its first anniversary, a panel of multidisciplinary experts explored the case law and developments that have emerged over this past year. Practice areas included matrimonial, family, trusts & estates, health, immigration, employee benefits, and estate & gift tax, among others. This full day CLE was the culmination of a year-long series of programs analyzing the changing landscape of marriage for same-sex couples.
