Sharon Rubalcava was quoted in a Pacific Maritime article recapping the 2012 GreenPacific Conference. The conference included six panel discussions, with zero emissions technology as the over-arching topic. The panels examined the technology’s promises, challenges, pending projects, fixed rail applications, and legal and regulatory implications. Rubalcava spoke on the panel titled, “CEQA Reform: What’s being proposed? And is it enough to get our projects moving again?”
The panel discussed the length of time it takes to guide projects through the California Environmental Quality Act process. “There have been a number of bills recently that streamline CEQA review for certain processes,” Rubalcava said. “I think you might see some minor tweaking of it, but I’m not optimistic that we’ll see a major change.”
