Angie Burnette focuses her practice on many aspects of health, privacy, hospital and physician law. She handles health care related litigation involving issues such as hospital-physician disputes, malpractice, hospital licensure and investigation, contract, medical malpractice and peer review, successfully resolving matters at the trial and the appellate level. Ms. Burnette assists hospitals and other providers with numerous issues, including HIPAA, retail health clinics, involuntary commitments, surrogate births, sentinel events, medical staff, health records, peer review, minors, duty to warn, do not resuscitate/end of life issues and blood transfusions. She also represents physicians and other health care providers in state licensure board investigations and proceedings. Ms. Burnette provides general advice to health care providers regarding a variety of risk management and compliance issues and advises non-health care companies on HIPAA privacy issues.
Ms. Burnette has presented speeches on a state, regional and national level regarding numerous health care topics including HIPAA, nurse practitioners, medical record documentation, mental health issues, involuntary commitments and other health care emergencies and issues. She has submitted amicus curiae briefs in the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court. Ms. Burnette is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the Georgia Academy of Healthcare Attorneys.
