Mr. Ellsworth counsels clients to procure, protect, license and enforce intellectual property rights with a specific emphasis on mechanical and electro-mechanical patents. In addition to drafting and prosecuting patent applications, Mr. Ellsworth also counsels clients on a number of intellectual property matters including patent infringement, patent validity, transactional matters including joint development and licensing agreements, trademarks and copyright matters.
Mr. Ellsworth has lectured at Wake Forest University School of Law in the area of patent law and serves on the advisory board of the Wake Forest Intellectual Property Law Journal. He serves on the board of directors for Junior Achievement of the Carolinas. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and serves on the Patent Office Practice (U.S.) Committee of the Intellectual Property Owners Association. Mr. Ellsworth is a member of the State Bar of North Carolina and is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

He received his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2002. He served as president of The Wake Forest Trial Bar (2001-2002) and was also a recipient of the C.A.L.I. award at Wake Forest for excellence in the study of patent law. Mr. Ellsworth received his B.S.M.E. from the University of Michigan in 1997. Prior to joining Alston & Bird, Mr. Ellsworth worked in the automotive industry as a product engineer and O.E.M. program manager for Dana Corporation.
