Sourcing & Complex Procurement
The mission of Alston & Bird’s sourcing and complex procurement practice is to drive value for our public and private sector clients by providing the highest quality advice on all aspects – strategy, transaction and governance – of their sourcing and complex procurement initiatives.
EXPERIENCE
Sourcing
Our attorneys have handled some of the largest and most sophisticated information technology and business process sourcing transactions undertaken to date. For example, we advised on the largest “new money” outsourcing in 2006 and the largest ever global managed network services transaction. Clients find tremendous value in the skill, creativity and legal acumen that Alston & Bird lawyers bring to these transformative business transactions.
Complex Procurement
We assist our clients’ procurement departments in structuring and negotiating their most sophisticated transactions. In addition to our transactional expertise, we advise on transforming procurement processes to optimize the value of the function. We recently counseled a major government entity in the Southern Hemisphere on its procurement improvement initiative in advance of an estimated $80 billion spend.
DIFFERENTIATION
We differentiate ourselves from other sourcing and procurement advisors by creating beneficial and sustainable partnering arrangements that achieve our clients’ business objectives and accommodate the changes and challenges that inevitably arise in long-term arrangements. Fostering relationship building where each party to the transaction benefits, thus increasing the likelihood of long-term success, is a hallmark of our work. By focusing on the client’s entire operating model, with an emphasis on the critical (though often ignored) integration issues that are present in any multisource environment, we achieve sustainable results. We also structure collaborative governance frameworks that anticipate likely points of friction and align the supplier incentives with customer objectives.
