Donna Bergeson is a health care lawyer and the former leader of the firm’s Health Care Group. She is a former chair of the firm’s governing body, known as its Partners’ Committee, and also Chairs the firm’s Investment Committee. Ms. Bergeson serves as chairperson of the Emory Healthcare Advisory Board. In addition, she is a board member of the Children’s Community Board of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, a member of the Board of Visitors for the Medical University of South Carolina, a member of the board of directors of Catholic Charities of Greater Atlanta, and a member of the board of directors of Student Aid Foundation, Inc., an organization whose mission is to support higher-education for Georgia women through low-cost loans. She is a past member of the Emory University Board of Visitors, the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Leadership Gwinnett and a prior faculty member of the Atlanta College of Trial Advocacy. Ms. Bergeson is a frequent author and speaker on compliance and life sciences related issues to various legal and professional organizations such as the American Health Lawyers Association, the Federation of State Medical Boards, the American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers, the American Health Information Management Association, the American Conference Institute, and numerous state bar associations across the country.
Donna received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina in 1981, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and named most outstanding senior in political science. She received her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1984 where she was active in moot court. She made partner as a litigator at Alston & Bird and shortly thereafter transitioned to a practice in health care to follow client need.
