Paid Leave, Tax Credits, and Other Developing Employment Law Issues

Employers are being faced with increasing compliance challenges as the impact of coronavirus continues to grow and spread.  This webinar will focus on answering questions relating to the following legal issues and developments that are presenting compliance requirements and risks for employers as they navigate the developing landscape:

  • New federal paid sick leave requirements created by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), contains provisions requiring certain employers to provide employees with paid leave when they miss work for coronavirus-related reasons, including a lack of childcare resulting from school closures, as well as associated tax credits provided by the FFCRA.
  • Legal and strategic considerations relating to decisions about whether, in the face of decreased operational needs, employers should terminate employees or place them on temporary layoff, including federal and state WARN issues and developments regarding unemployment compensation provided by the states.
  • Legal risks and best practices relating to telework arrangements.
