Meet Sam Park - Los Angeles Hiring Partner

MEET THE HIRING PARTNERS

  1. Why did you choose to practice law and how did you decide to practice in your particular area of law?

I decided to practice law, because throughout my life, I saw the benefits of knowing and understanding the law.  I also believed that law school would give me the most options for selecting a career path.

I chose to be a litigator, because I enjoy advocating for clients and the challenge of navigating adversarial proceedings.

  2. What do you like best about being Hiring Partner?

The best part about being Hiring Partner is meeting with students from a wide array of backgrounds to get an understanding of their expectations and challenges.

  3. In your opinion, what makes Alston & Bird a great place to work?

Alston & Bird has an incredibly collaborative environment, not just within each office but across offices too.  This is driven, in part, by the fact that Alston & Bird encourages lawyers to visit lawyers in different offices.

  4. If there was one piece of (career) advice you could provide to a law student, what would it be?

I suggest staying in touch with your fellow classmates after graduation and beyond.  They will be the foundation of the network that you build throughout your career.

  5. What was the most memorable recruiting experience for you personally as a law student?

My most memorable recruiting experience was when I received an offer from the firm that was at the top of my list.   I clicked with each lawyer who interviewed me so was very excited to receive an offer.

  6. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy travelling with my family, playing with my dogs, and working out.

  7. What is your favorite quote?

“Winning isn’t everything; its the only thing.”

  8. Who inspires you and why?

My parents because they immigrated to an unfamiliar country where they did not speak the language and established a happy and successful life here.
