and Lian Yang
will be featured speakers at the International Trade Seminar: Anti-Globalization Scenario and WTO Restrictions to Industrial Policies organized by Demarest Advogados and Alston & Bird LLP. The seminar will involve foreign experts and representatives from trade associations and the private sector to discuss topics currently relevant to international trade.
Jason will present on two panels. The first panel, “Brazilian Exports in an Anti-Globalization Scenario,” will focus on the alternatives to defend the Brazilian industry from antidumping and countervailing measures applied by the U.S. and European Union, especially the ways to restart and increase exports to these markets in the current antiglobalization scenario, as well as the alternatives to minimize the imposition of trade remedies against Brazilian exports. The second panel, “Compliance and Trade Facilitation,” will discuss the measures adopted by Brazil to implement the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement, especially the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program and the Single Window for Trade Purposes. It will also cover the U.S. CT-PAT program, comparing it to the Brazilian AEO program, and the application of the U.S. export controls to Brazilian companies.
Lian will present on the panel “China as a Market Economy,” which will discuss the measures adopted by the U.S. and the European Union in view of the expiration of Article 15(a)(iii) of China’s Protocol of Accession to the WTO as well as the WTO dispute started by China against the European Union.
