Alston & Bird LLP was awarded United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta’s prestigious 2012 Logan Cup, an award given each year to a law firm that demonstrates the highest generosity of spirit and civic commitment in its annual United Way campaign. The winner is determined by several factors, including civic involvement, per-capita giving, leadership giving and percentage of participants.

“United Way’s core mission has been an important part of who we are as a firm for many years, and we are very proud to receive this prestigious award,” said Alston & Bird Managing Partner Richard Hays. “It speaks to the core values of our firm and highlights a generosity of spirit that is present not only here, but throughout the community.”
Alston & Bird, which also won the Logan cup in 2001, contributed more than $580,000 to United Way’s 2011 campaign in Atlanta, making it the second-largest law firm by campaign dollars raised in the city, a position it proudly has held for some time. More than 120 Alston & Bird attorneys and staff are leadership donors, and they are involved on a volunteer basis with various UW boards and initiatives, including United Way’s Young Professional Leaders Group. The organization’s campaign chair was Jim Grant, and Cheryl Naja was the employee campaign manager.
“Alston & Bird ran a phenomenal fundraising campaign last year with an innovative spirit that truly made them stand out,” said United Way Development Officer Andrew Land.
