Our Vision
We embrace diversity at all levels of the firm and seek out the best individuals to join our team. Our unique culture is enhanced through diversity not only of race and gender, but by members of the LGBT community, generational differences, cultural differences and talented people of varying backgrounds and experiences.
Our Goals
Alston & Bird is committed to promoting diversity both within our firm and our community. We have worked and will continue to work to create and maintain an open, receptive and nurturing work environment and a diverse workforce of attorneys and staff. We accomplish this internally through various initiatives under the leadership of firm-wide Diversity Committees. Chaired by a partner, the Diversity Steering Committee provides overarching goals and guidance. Each office/region has a Regional Diversity Committee, comprised of attorneys and staff, working to implement programs, events and sponsorships relative to their locations. The Diversity Task Force supports the firm’s efforts by providing opportunities for learning through events, recognition and cultural celebration.

It’s a little book that says where we went off-track was when the enlightenment gave us the impression that the economy was to run like a machine. And so we developed a mechanized view of social change. The mechanical view is not an apt metaphor—life is much more like a garden . . . it requires weeding. It requires acceptance of diversity, and you don’t put your flowers under the shade of the tree. You’ve got to accommodate for sunlight and rain.
