Alston & Bird has once again been named as one of FORTUNE’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” in 2010. This year marks the 11th consecutive year Alston & Bird has made the list – a legal industry first. The 13th annual list, to include Alston’s #30 ranking and related stories, will appear in the February 8 issue of FORTUNE and is now at fortune.com/bestcompanies.
“It is a tremendous honor to be again recognized by FORTUNE for our commitment to our employees,” said Richard Hays, managing partner of Alston & Bird. “Each and every day Alston & Bird strives to create a supportive, challenging and engaging work environment that fosters innovation, exceptional service to our clients and professional growth. In 2009 the economy challenged every type of business in new and unpredictable ways, and I am especially proud of the fact that we met those challenges together and retained our culture and standing as a ‘Best Company to Work For.’”
Alston & Bird was named to the FORTUNE list based on its commitment to providing the highest quality client service, serving the communities in which it operates across the country, and promoting a work environment that reflects the very culture that has been inculcated throughout the firm for more than a century.
“We take great pride in this ranking,” said Cathy Benton, chief human resource officer and leader of the FORTUNE submission through the years. “The competitive selection process includes a rigorous evaluation of our culture. Eleven years on the list means eleven years of consistency, and that makes us very proud.”
FORTUNE Deputy Managing Editor Hank Gilman said, “The most important considerations for this year’s list were hiring and the ways in which companies are helping their employees weather the recession. All 100 companies on our list are currently hiring, many of them aggressively, leading to more than 96,000 open job positions expected in the next year.”
To pick the “100 Best Companies to Work For,” FORTUNE works with Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz of the Great Place to Work® Institute—a global research and consulting firm with offices in 30 countries—to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America.
