James Sullivan advises institutional investors and private investment fund sponsors representing a variety of fund structures and asset classes. He has significant experience in representing buyout funds, hybrid funds and real estate funds in their investment and acquisition activity, including investments in and acquisitions of portfolio companies, debt and equity capital raising initiatives, recapitalizations and sponsor exit transactions. James also counsels public and private companies (including companies controlled by private investment funds) with respect to their strategic business transactions.
- Advised a U.S.-based private equity sponsor in its syndicated financing and acquisition of seven gas-fired power generation plants in the Northeastern U.S.
- Advised the portfolio company of a Netherlands-based private equity sponsor in its acquisition of the U.S. and South American operations of a leading producer of horticultural products.
- Advised the portfolio company of a global alternative investment firm in its acquisition of the premier litigation support firm in the western United States.
- Advised a Japanese financial institution in the restructuring of certain debt and equity investments in the United States.
- Counsel to a U.S.-based private equity sponsor with respect to various renewable energy investments.
- Advised a global asset manager in the structure and formation of a master-feeder hybrid fund to invest in domestic and international aircraft assets.
- Counsel to state pension plans and other institutional investors in connection with investments in various private equity, real estate and hedge funds.
