Joel Cartee represents public and private companies as well as investment banking firms, hedge funds and other investment funds and equity investors with respect to complex global transactions.  His practice areas include mergers and acquisitions, securities transactions, project finance transactions, joint ventures, strategic alliances and private equity transactions. Joel has extensive experience in structuring and negotiating complex merger and acquisition and project finance transactions, especially in the energy, technology and telecommunications industries. He also represents clients in connection with international carbon management and finance matters.

Joel is a member of the American and Atlanta Bar Associations and the State Bar of Georgia, as well as the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, where he serves on the publications committee. He is also a member of the Section of Business Law and Section of Environment, Energy and Resources of the American Bar Association and serves on American Bar Association Committees within those sections.

Joel received his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, in 1998 from The University of Alabama School of Law where he was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as senior editor of the Alabama Law Review.  He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1995 with a B.S., summa cum laude, in commerce and business administration with a focus in corporate finance and investment management.
