On Saturday, August 4, Alston & Bird dedicated its 15th Habitat for Humanity house, the latest step in a journey that has ultimately led to 15 metro Atlanta families enjoying the American dream of home ownership. Since 1998, Alston & Bird has been an active partner with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity in helping to provide affordable housing for working families living in the metro area.
Alston & Bird Pro Bono Coordinator Cheryl Naja mused on the milestone, saying, “The firm has been a proud participant in the Atlanta Habitat for Humanity program for many years now, and completing this house is as rewarding as hammering that last nail in the very first one. The luster of providing a family with the opportunity to own their own home has never faded, and we look forward to working on the next one.”
“Bring on lucky number 16,” she added with a smile.
Atlanta Habitat partners with families, businesses, faith-based organizations, schools and others in the community to build green, quality, attractive and affordable homes for families working towards home ownership. Homebuyers work side-by-side with volunteers to complete 250 sweat equity hours in order to be eligible for a home purchase. To date, Atlanta Habitat has helped build homes for more than 1,200 families living in the metro Atlanta area.
