Patrick Flinn is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Litigation Group. He focuses his practice on the trial of technology-based disputes with an emphasis on patent litigation.
Mr. Flinn has led trial teams in disputes raising a variety of technical disciplines including electronics, computer software and telecommunications. He has represented clients in patent litigation in various districts in the United States including the Northern and Central Districts of California, the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas, the District of Delaware and the Northern District of Georgia.
Mr. Flinn is also an active writer and lecturer on subjects of law and technology. He is the author of the book Handbook of Intellectual Property Claims and Remedies, published by Aspen Law & Business and updated annually. He speaks regularly in national CLE presentations on Patent Law, Electronic Discovery and Computer Law by organizations such as BNA and PLI. He has published articles in Corporate Counsel magazine, the National Law Journal, the Legal Times of Washington and the Electronic Banking and Commerce Report. He is a co-author of the Patent Local Rules of the Northern District of Georgia.

Mr. Flinn obtained his undergraduate degree from Stanford University in 1978 and his law degree from Georgetown University in 1982. He is a past chair of the Law Alumni Board of the Georgetown University Law Center.
He began his career at Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco and Palo Alto, California, first as an associate and then as a partner. He joined Alston & Bird in 1995 as a partner.
He is a member of the California and Georgia Bars, as well as the Ninth and Federal Circuit Bars, and the United States Supreme Court Bar.
