Philippe Bennett leads Alston & Bird’s New York Intellectual Property Group, and was recently named among the top intellectual property litigators in New York by a leading global publication. Philippe previously headed Coudert Brother’s intellectual property practice worldwide.
Philippe’s practice over the past twenty-five years has focused on litigation and licensing of intellectual property rights, trade secret and employee non-compete litigation, technology transfer transactions, and the negotiation of patent and trademark contracts and agreements. He has been trial counsel before various federal and state courts, and the International Trade Commission in a diverse range of cases involving pharmaceutical chemistry, classical chemistry, drug delivery systems, medical imaging and injector devices, cardiac pacemakers, and in financial trading software technologies.
Philippe has also developed in-house patent programs and contributed to the development of corporate IP strategies, and has been involved in numerous international mergers and acquisitions and directed extensive due diligence projects, and IP portfolio valuations.

Philippe has lectured and published on recent developments in the law, and has authored and/or presented numerous articles on the interface of patent litigation and patent prosecution. Philippe also publishes and presents at seminars on various patent issues relating to the Hatch-Waxman Act. Philippe has taught patent law and patent litigation as a lecturer in law at the Japanese Institute of Intellectual Property in Tokyo, and has also been a member of the editorial board of The Trademark Reporter. He currently has a featured segment, “Differences in International IP Laws,” on Sky Radio, World Business Monitor.
Philippe is a member of The International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property, American Intellectual Property Law Association, FICPI, INTA, the International Trade Commission Trial Lawyer Association, and a member of Fordham University Graduate School of Business’ Global Board of Advisors. He is listed in Super Lawyers magazine.
Philippe received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Harvard University, an M.B.A. with highest honors from Fordham University Graduate School of Business, a J.D. with distinction from Hofstra University, and received his LL.M. in Trial Advocacy from Temple University. He is admitted to practice in both New York and New Jersey, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of Texas, the District of New Jersey, the District of Wisconsin, the Southern District of Florida, and the International Trade Commission.
