Adam’s practice primarily focuses on assisting clients in protecting their intellectual property assets, as well as helping clients make informed business decisions while minimizing financial liability potentially presented by competitors’ patents. More specifically, Adam assists his clients in strategically obtaining U.S. and foreign patent protection to meet their business goals. He analyzes the patent portfolios of his clients’ competitors to provide legal opinions as to the validity of the competitors’ patents and whether a client’s product or activity may infringe.
Most of Adam’s work has been in the electrical, computer and electro-mechanical arts. In particular, he counsels clients in connection with technology relating to cloud computing, radio frequency identification (RFID) antennas and programming, networking protocols, electronic security, information classification and management, software, telecommunications, computer-human interfaces, electronic storage devices, mechanical systems, satellite and cable television systems, medical devices and business methods.
Before joining Alston & Bird, Adam wrote and prosecuted patent applications at another large law firm in New York. He was also seconded to the in-house legal department of a Fortune 50 electronics company, where he worked with engineers to mine intellectual property, met with management to understand the business goals and coordinated with outside counsel to build a patent portfolio.
