Liz Skola is a senior associate in the firm's Securities Litigation Group. Her practice includes representing clients in securities class actions, shareholder derivative suits and other complex commercial and business-related litigation. She has experience in both trial and appellate work.
Liz received her J.D., with honors, from Emory University School of Law in 2005, and was awarded the Order of the Coif. During law school, she served as a symposium editor for the Emory Law Journal and interned with The Honorable Frank M. Hull of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. She earned a B.A., summa cum laude, in business administration and history from Furman University, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Before joining Alston & Bird, Liz served as a law clerk to The Honorable William C. O'Kelley, United States Judge for the Northern District of Georgia.
Liz is admitted to practice in Georgia state courts and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. She is a member of the Georgia Bar Association and the Atlanta Bar Association. She is also involved in pro bono work, including representing juveniles through the Truancy Intervention Program.
- Obtained an early dismissal of a securities class action brought against an electronic commerce company and its directors and officers.
- Counsel in several securities class actions to companies, directors and officers, including an electronic commerce company, a large packaging company, a health care solutions company and an optical components company.
- Counsel in several M&A litigation matters to directors and officers, including a health care solutions company and a beverage bottling company.
