Lisa Gilford is the co-chair of the firm’s Products Liability Group. She focuses her practice on class actions and product law. She has served as counsel for several major members of the automotive, insurance, communications, oil and gas, aerospace, chemical manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries. Lisa is known for her responsiveness to clients and understanding of their broad business objectives.
Lisa is a frequent lecturer on such topics as California tort, consumer protection and unfair competition claims; class actions; best practices for outside counsel; professional development for women lawyers; and other diversity issues. She was recognized by the Los Angeles Daily Journal as one of California's "Top Women Litigators" for 2010 and 2011. Lisa was named a "Rising Star" by Southern California Super Lawyers and was a nominee of the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Women Making a Difference” Award for the last two years. Lisa received the 2008 J. Michael Brown Award from DuPont for her personal commitment to diversity, recruiting and mentoring in the legal profession.
- Serves as lead counsel in a large-scale automotive products liability and consumer class action MDL and state court consolidated proceedings involving over 200 nationwide class actions.
- Serves as counsel to corporate clients facing class actions brought under California consumer protection and unfair competition laws, including the UCL, FAL and CLRA.
- Obtained a defense verdict for a major telecommunications client after a month-long jury trial in a case involving breach of contract and civil rights claims.
- Serves as counsel in numerous personal injury and wrongful death actions arising out of claimed exposure to benzene, lead, asbestos, solvents, mold and numerous other chemical products.
- Serves as account manager for the primary law firm relationship with a multinational Fortune 500 company. Duties in this capacity include negotiating alternative fee arrangements, controlling legal costs, managing complex litigation budgets, tracking performance metrics and developing strategic partnerships with in-house counsel.
