Richard McAvoy is an associate in the Litigation & Trial Practice Group in the firm’s Research Triangle office, where his business litigation practice focuses on complex commercial and financial services litigation, as well as the defense of class actions and business torts.
Richard received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Notre Dame Law School in 2011. While in law school, Richard served as articles editor for the Notre Dame Law Review. In 2007, he received his B.A., cum laude, in political science from Marist College.
Richard is admitted to practice in North Carolina state and federal courts and is a member of the North Carolina and Wake County Bar Associations.
- Defends financial services institutions in the class action context.
- Defended a number of suits involving a variety of federal regulations, including TILA, RESPA, FCRA and actions under various state UDAP and consumer fraud regulations.
