Prominent New York Litigator James Moyle Joins Alston & Bird


Continuing its recruitment of top legal talent to serve the financial services sector, Alston & Bird has announced that James F. Moyle has joined the firm as a partner in the New York office.

 

Moyle is a highly respected litigator, representing financial institutions, insurance companies, investment advisors and public companies.  Among other high-profile victories, Moyle obtained a jury verdict in a $1.2 billion case that was named one of The National Law Journal’s “Top Ten Defense Wins,” and he secured dismissals in several major class actions.

Moyle is the sixth key litigation lateral  to join the firm recently, following John Doherty, John Weiss and Craig Carpenito in New York, and Frank Hirsch and Matthew McGuire in the firm’s North Carolina offices.   These important hires team with Alston & Bird’s 60 New York-based litigators, including, among others, Nelson Boxer, John Cambria, Todd David, Karl Geercken, Michael Johnson, Marty Bunin and Craig Freeman.  Todd David, co-chair of Litigation for the firm, stated that “we have great bench strength in New York with several excellent trial lawyers, and a strong commercial and securities litigation practice here and throughout the firm. About James F. Moyle

 

Jim Moyle’s practice covers a broad range of matters with a focus on commercial litigation and securities class actions.  He has represented clients in federal and state courts, before regulatory bodies and in sensitive internal investigations.  A Chambers-rated litigator, he previously was head of Morgan Lewis’ commercial litigation practice in New York.  Prior to that, he was a partner at Clifford Chance, where he served two terms on the firm’s global governing board.  Moyle received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Albany Law School of Union University, where he was an editor of the Law Review.  He received his B.A., with honors, from the State University of New York in Binghamton. He is a director of Give Kids The World, a not-for-profit organization fulfilling wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.
