Edward Tanenbaum served as Chair of the "US Activities of Foreigners & Tax Treaties" program on May 7 and was a featured panelist for, "Hot Topics in US Withholding Tax and Reporting Rules," May 7, 8:00am - 8:55am, during this meeting of the Taxation Section of the American Bar Association. Edward's panel discussed key developments resulting from the Tier 1 audit priority the IRS has made on US withholding taxes and the new withholding tax regime implemented by Congress to catch offshore US tax evasion, as well as what taxpayers need to do to avoid potentially substantial tax liabilities for failure to comply.
