Jamie Underwood presented, “The ITC’s Unique Trial-Related Procedures,” at this seminar sponsored by the International Trade Commission Trial Lawyers Association (ITCTLA). This week-long program was designed to educate Chinese companies, chambers of commerce, local government and the legal community about Section 337 and the International Trade Commission (ITC). The seminar took place simultaneously in four cities in China, Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
Section 337 is an important means for combating unfair practices, such as patent infringement, in the import trade, and for enforcing U.S. intellectual property rights at the border. If the ITC finds that an imported good violates Section 337, an exclusion order will be issued to the U.S. Customs Service that bars the product from the United States.
