Alston & Bird LLP hosted a half-day conference on emerging intellectual property issues in the field of clean technology, with an emphasis on energy storage technology.
Clean energy solutions, whether on the grid (smart grid or not so smart) or off the grid, in hybrid vehicles or all-electric vehicles, or wind or solar-based, will all depend on an energy storage solution for long term viability. Effective storage means the ability to manage and integrate all the energy technologies with the existing and evolving infrastructure. It means we can harvest energy whenever it is available and store it so it can meet demand from vehicles, households and businesses, all the way up to the regional utility level.
At this one-day symposium, attendees learned more about some of the latest storage-related technologies, what is coming next, investing in and financing storage solutions and how the regulatory, policy and legal environments are evolving.
