Law Firm Receives Eaton Law Department Supplier Diversity Excellence Award and Vault Recognition as One of the Best Law Firms for Diversity
Alston & Bird, whose longstanding commitment to diversity continues to be recognized, is the 2011 recipient of the Eaton Law Department Supplier Diversity Excellence Award. The award, presented by Eaton Corporation, a diversified power management company, as part of its supplier recognition program honors the firm's "dedication to furthering diversity in the legal profession."
"Alston & Bird has been an outstanding partner in helping Eaton achieve our diversity goals," said Mark McGuire, Eaton executive vice president and general counsel. "Additionally, they embody the spirit of diversity in the legal community."
The award will be presented at a ceremony at Eaton's World Headquarters in Cleveland on October 12, 2011.
In addition, Alston & Bird has "vaulted" to 11th place on the Vault’s 2012 Best Law Firms for Diversity list. Vault is a comprehensive resource for career management and job search information.
The firm has improved in every category in the 2012 survey of the 25 Best Law Firms for Diversity, coming in 11th overall (from 16th in 2011). The firm ranked 8th for minorities (16th in 2011), 10th for the LGBT community (13th in 2011) and 16th for women (unranked in 2011).
The Vault rankings are determined by internal associate surveys, and include separate categories for diversity as it relates to minorities, women, and gays and lesbians. To determine the Best 20 Law Firms for Diversity, Vault uses a formula that weighs the three categories evenly for an overall diversity ranking. 165 law firms were considered for these surveys.
