Alston & Bird client Toyota today announced that the firm’s team led by partner Lisa Gilford has successfully won a dismissal of all complaints brought against the automotive manufacturer by foreign plaintiffs from 14 countries as part of the ongoing federal multidistrict litigation. This comes on the heels of a similar dismissal in April, after which the plaintiffs were given an opportunity to amend and re-file their claims.
“We are pleased that Judge Selna has now twice ruled in Toyota’s favor on this important issue,” said Gilford, co-chair of Alston & Bird’s Products Liability Group. “His conclusions reinforce Toyota’s long-standing position that the foreign plaintiffs failed to meet any of the legal requirements necessary to bring their claims against the company in a U.S. court.”
