Frank G. Smith III was quoted in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, in an article about firms diversifying their client base during economic downturns. Conversely, the article points out, some lawyers are drawn into new realms due to economic growth. Smith, for example, began his career in antitrust litigation, but gradually shifted his focus to intellectual property litigation as the need grew.
“There was an understanding in the mid-‘90s that this was an area that clearly had strong growth potential and it was under-served in the Southeast,” said, Smith, who now co-chairs the firm’s intellectual property litigation group, which has grown three times over in the last decade.
