Former Majority Leader Senator Bob Dole was honored on September 30 with the unveiling of the inaugural Kansas Walk of Honor plaque, which bears his name. The plaque recognizes his contributions to Kansas and the nation, and during the dedication ceremony, Dole was lauded by Kansas Governor Sam Brownback, U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) and former Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Richard Myers, among others, for his public service spanning decades.
His Midwestern sense of humor on display, Dole quipped during the proceedings, “I don’t deserve it, but I’ll take it.”
The Kansas Walk of Honor is intended to recognize notable Kansans, with up to three plaques being added each year.
