Shiraz Tangri, a member of the firm’s Environmental & Land Development Group and based in its Los Angeles office, was named among the 2012 Top 20 Under 40 in the Los Angeles Daily Journal.
This prestigious list honors rising stars in California’s legal industry who, within their particular practice area, have had a major impact on issues and transactions, or generated widespread public interest in reshaping their industry.
Tangri has spent a lot of time in the past year examining how the California Environmental Quality Act could function more efficiently at the local level.
“I believe that in an urban setting like Los Angeles, a project’s environmental impact should not be evaluated solely on issues like traffic…one way to do that is to improve the pedestrian realm,” Tangri said in an interview with the Daily Journal.
“We’ve made it easy for people to drive, but we need to make it easier to walk. There are so many great neighborhoods in L.A. that are pedestrian friendly and people love to walk. If we can create a safe place to walk, people will walk,” he said.
