Willa Bruckner was quoted in a Wall Street Journal article discussing the CFTC’s unanimous vote to delay certain swaps rules until as late as December 31, 2011, in order to avoid confusion in the over-the-counter derivatives market in the wake of regulators’ failure to meet the July 16, 2011, deadline for new rules set by Congress in the Dodd-Frank legislation. Willa spoke about the possibility of legal challenges against swap deals entered into after the deadline. “Providing clarity that transactions that were exempt pre-Dodd-Frank will continue to be exempt during this extended rulemaking period is critical for certainty in the markets,” she said.
