Tiffany Buxton is a member of the firm’s Litigation & Trial Practice and Securities Litigation Groups. She represents clients in a range of complex commercial matters and litigation, including cases involving financial services, securities, real estate, employment and restrictive covenants, allegations of breach of fiduciary duties, and professional liability and malpractice, in proceedings in New York, bankruptcy court and the Delaware Court of Chancery. Ms. Buxton also represents clients in internal and government investigations and has extensive experience in e-discovery, as well as the collection and analysis of electronic data and information.

She is admitted to practice before the state courts of New York and the federal district courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Ms. Buxton received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2002, where she was executive articles editor for the Journal of International Law and inducted into the Order of the Coif. Ms. Buxton was a recipient of The Clinical Legal Education Association award for excellence in clinical fieldwork, as well as awards for distinction in the areas of complex litigation and labor law.

Representative Experience

  • Counsel to the special litigation committee of the board of directors of a public company in connection with multijurisdictional derivative litigation relating to allegations of stock option backdating.
  • Counsel to various national banks and special servicers in commercial loan foreclosure actions involving hotels and office buildings, as well as related receiverships, in New York, including foreclosure on a $48 million loan package on a Manhattan office building and the appointment of a temporary receiver to complete building renovation.
  • Led trial preparation and cross-examined a key witness in an AAA arbitration that successfully defended breach of contract claims in excess of $30 million asserted against a New York Stock Exchange company in the consumer products business. In that same matter, played a key role in obtaining an interim stay on, and an eventual reversal of, an injunction entered by the appellate court.
  • Counsel to a large pharmaceutical manufacturer in connection with compliance-related matters and government inquiries.
  • Litigation counsel to an exclusive Canadian distributor in connection with claims proceeding in the Chapter 11 cases of Rock & Republic Enterprises, Inc., et al.
  • Counsel to an individual in connection with FINRA arbitration and alleged corporate raiding claims.
  • Counsel to a foreign corporation and individuals in connection with alleged civil RICO claims.
  • Representation of various financial services entities and opinion providers in connection with SEC audits and third-party subpoenas.
