Outside the United States, Yitai has been involved in patent cases in court and in administrative proceedings. He also has assisted clients with intellectual property theft and misappropriation matters, including identifying the source of pirated trademarked and copyrighted products abroad, securing search warrants to seize pirated products and pursuing those responsible through available criminal and civil proceedings.
Yitai’s has also negotiated a number of complex international patent and technology license agreements. His counseling practice also includes mergers and acquisitions involving technology companies.
Yitai is a member of the California, Maryland and District of Columbia Bars. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of California, the Central District of California, the District of Columbia, the Western District of Wisconsin and the Eastern District of Michigan; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
He is a frequent speaker on the topic of international patent laws at conferences and seminars and has also frequently spoken on topics related to U.S. intellectual property protection in China and Taiwan. Yitai currently serves as an assistant professor at the National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, where he lectures on U.S. patent litigation. He has also been invited to provide training to the Taiwanese judiciary, including its new-established IP courts, on U.S. litigation. From 2004 to 2006, he also served on the editorial board of Patent World magazine.
