Alston & Bird hosted a lunch presentation on International Software Licensing.  Could the consumer protection laws of other countries make portions of your standard software license unenforceable?  Can national laws dictate warranty periods for your software regardless of the agreement between the parties?  How can you structure tax implications of international software licensing to your benefit?  These and similar challenges to software licensing driven by the differences in laws among the United States and other jurisdictions were addressed during our lunch presentation.  The presentation had a particular focus on "mandatory laws" found throughout the European Union.
