Data Breach Prevention and Response for Hospitals and Health Systems

Data Breach Prevention and Response for Hospitals and Health Systems

Data breaches have become, unfortunately, increasingly common. In a recently released study by a leading independent research institute, more than 90% of the healthcare organizations surveyed had a data breach, and 40% had more than five data breaches over the past two years. While HIPAA compliance is the centerpiece of any hospital’s privacy and data breach response plan, there are issues beyond the confines of HIPAA. In this one-hour webinar, we provided practical tips for navigating this highprofile space and provided guidance on the following:

    • Technical and practical considerations for protecting data
    • How to effectively respond to a breach
    • Notification obligations
    • What the Office for Civil Rights is doing
    • Litigation update: the legal landscape for data breach class actions

Our panel of speakers included  Bill Jordan, Dawnmarie Matlock, Kimberly PerettiPaula Stannard and Jahnisa Tate.
