Hon. Earl Pomeroy served in Congress for nine terms and was a senior Member of the House Ways and Means Committee. He currently practices as a policy advisor focused on tax policy, pensions and health care in Alston & Bird’s D.C. office.
Carolyn Smith spent 21 years working on tax legislation in the Congress for with the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation, including as associate deputy chief of staff. There she was responsible for major tax, pension and health care legislation. She is in our D.C. office and focuses her practice on legal and policy issues relating to tax, health care and employee benefits
Scott Harty is a partner in the Federal & International Tax Group in Alston & Bird's Atlanta Office. He focuses his practice on complex domestic and cross-border commercial transactions, including taxable and tax-free mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate restructurings.
