Please join us for the eighth program in our series of educational sessions for our clients and friends on the General Data Protection Regulation. The GDPR roadmap series is a combination of webinar and in-person events designed to provide you with the critical information you need to assess and address the key issues raised by the passage and implementation of the GDPR. The series is co-chaired by David Keating, co-chair, Privacy & Data Security Practice and Jim Harvey, co-chair, Privacy & Data Security Practice and Cybersecurity Preparedness & Response Team. Other speakers from the firm and community will join us throughout the series.
Our 8th installment of our GDPR Roadmap series will spotlight the extraterritorial reach of the GDPR and investigate to what extent companies that have no presence or limited touch points within the European Union may be affected. In the first part of our webinar our team will offset the new rules against the current European data privacy framework and discuss impacts for American businesses. The second part of our webinar features Alston & Bird Senior Counsel, Professor Peter Swire, who will assess how companies can manage and mitigate risk exposure based on real life business scenarios. We have also enlisted a special guest speaker, Parker Miller, who is Partner at Alston & Bird and an experienced international litigator. Parker will bring the litigator’s perspective to the discussion and help assess enforcement and litigation risks resulting from the GDPR’s extra-territorial reach.
