Gidon Caine and Helen Christakos will speak at the 25th Annual Stanford Directors’ College.

Gidon will participate in the session “Defend Your Company, Defend Yourself: Private Litigation Strategies.” Private litigation risks facing directors, officers, and corporations are inevitable and increasingly complex. This panel explores a series of cutting-edge litigation issues that can threaten corporations, directors, and senior executives, with an emphasis on practical strategies for minimizing and insuring against these risks and responding to litigation if the challenge arises.

Helen will participate in the panel session “Data Privacy and Boardroom Best Practices.” Passage of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act, and a series of recent high-profile data misuse scandals have thrust the data collection, data sharing, and privacy policies of companies into the spotlight. Companies are under significant pressure to prioritize data privacy, security, and compliance, and failure to do so could result in reputational harm or loss of shareholder value, as well as class action lawsuits and enforcement by U.S. and foreign regulators. This panel will address best practices for boards in working with management teams that are dealing with GDPR compliance, as well as increased demands for data privacy protections and transparency.
