For 1st quarter 2002, Mergerstat ranked Alston & Bird 13th among the top 50 legal advisors based on the value of deals handled and 30th among the top 50 legal advisors based on the number of deals handled. Mergerstat also credited Alston & Bird as legal advisor for the 1st quarter’s overall “Top Deal” [i.e., Bertelsmann AG (AOL Europe)/AOL Time Warner, Inc.] and named our firm the “Top Legal Advisor” in the Communications Industry during the 1st quarter. Separately, based on deals’ value, Mergerstat ranked our firm 5th among legal advisors handling Health Services Industry deals during the 12 months ending March 31, 2002.
