Healthcare Advisory - Pathway to 2006 Outpatient Rx Coverage is Set by CMS New Rules Govern Drug Plan Operations, Beneficiary Participation

The biggest changes in healthcare policy in over 30 years came into closer focus last week with the issuance of final regulations by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (“CMS”) that detail how a broad range of new benefits, chief among them coverage for prescription drugs, will be added into a fully modernized Medicare program. This advisory discusses Title I’s requirements on participating stakeholders – drug plans, pharmacies, pharmacy benefit managers, and beneficiaries, to name a few.
