Alston & Bird's Financial Services Group Further Expands National Hedge Fund And Derivatives Capabilities

Two new attorneys have joined the firm's New York office, expanding the Financial Services and Products Group:

--Willa Cohen Bruckner: Willa was previously general counsel for a family investment office and fund of funds and prior to that, a partner at Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt LLP;
--Craig A. Weynand: Craig joins the firm from Campbell & Company Inc. where he served as General Counsel and a member of the Executive Management Committee.

Willa Cohen Bruckner
Willa Cohen Bruckner concentrates her practice in derivatives, structured finance and alternative investments with over 20 years of experience as a financial services attorney. She works extensively with new product development, negotiation and documentation of a wide variety of traded products and complex financial transactions, as well as hedge funds and other pooled investments. She draws on experience in a broad range of financial transactions, investments and services, including derivatives, structured notes, securitizations, hedge funds and private equity funds, debt financings, investment management, credit support and corporate trust.

Prior to joining Alston & Bird, Ms. Bruckner was general counsel for a family investment office and fund of funds. Before that, she was a partner at Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt LLP. She has also served as the lead capital markets attorney at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson in New York, as a capital markets and lending attorney for The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, Ltd. and as an international lending attorney for Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company.

Ms. Bruckner, received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1981, her M.A. in economics from Yale University in 1976 and her B.S. with highest honors in mathematics from the University of Michigan in 1975.

Craig A. Weynand
Craig Weynand’s practice focuses on advising clients with respect to the structure, formation and management of public and private commodity pools, domestic and offshore hedge funds, and fund of funds. As General Counsel and a member of the Executive Management Committee of Campbell & Company, Inc., an alternative investment advisor managing in excess of $11 billion in the global equities, futures and forward markets, Mr. Weynand was directly responsible for all aspects of legal affairs and regulatory compliance, as well as managerial oversight of the firm’s trade support and internal audit functions. Mr. Weynand also served as Chief Compliance Officer, Secretary and Assistant Treasurer of Campbell & Company Investment Adviser LLC, a registered investment adviser. Prior to his work at Campbell, he was Director of Product Origination & Analysis for the Morgan Stanley Managed Futures Department, and also served in various other capacities at Morgan Stanley and its subsidiaries.

Mr. Weynand, received a B.S. in 1990 and an M.B.A. in 1996 from New York University Stern School of Business, as well as a J.D. from the Fordham University School of Law in 2002. He serves on the Futures & Derivatives Law Committee of the Business Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, the Government Relations Committee of the Managed Funds Association, and the Law & Compliance Division of the Futures Industry Association.
