Noelle Valentine has been selected to receive The Mecklenburg County Bar 2007 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award. The award, which is given annually, recognizes the extraordinary efforts of Mecklenburg County lawyers who have contributed a significant amount of time and energy toward pro bono work over the past year. In 2006 Noelle dedicated over 250 pro bono hours in 2006 on a variety matters, including as an instrumental member of the legal team providing representation to a family from Honduras with four young children seeking asylum in the United States. She also represented a battered woman from Costa Rica at a credible fear hearing and then provided a point of contact in the United States to assist in expediting the deportation process and reuniting the woman with her children in a safe environment.
