Maureen Gorsen Quoted in California Real Estate Journal

Maureen Gorsen was quoted in a California Real Estate Journal article discussing proposed amendments to the California Environmental Quality Act that would allow developers of a specific project to defer to the larger blueprint for greenhouse gas analysis, among other adjustments. Some, including Gorsen, are concerned about the ability to use CEQA to effectively reduce the harmful effects of climate change, since it is nearly impossible to address a global environmental issue on a project-by-project basis. “You can’t use a microscope to study the solar system,” Gorsen said. Also, she said that it would be preferable for the State to offer some type of greenhouse gas standard for local agencies to follow in the first place: “Make it low, make it high, but make it some number.”
