Maureen Gorsen was appointed yesterday by Governor Schwarzenegger to the state of California’s State Parks and Recreation Commission, which governs planning, policy and uses of the California's state park system. As the largest state park system in the United States, it encompasses a vast array of historic and cultural resources, including 278 parks (51 of which are designated State Historic Parks), covers 1.5 million acres and protects 295 miles of ocean front. The appointment is subject to California Senate confirmation.
