Alston & Bird is proud to announce its involvement with the Law Firm Sustainability Network (LFSN), a nonprofit organization of law firms and legal departments committed to promoting the benefits of environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility throughout the legal industry.
Founded in August 2011, LFSN is an informal platform for law firm professionals to share ideas, network and develop best practices and industry standards for sustainability in the legal industry. As a founding firm, Alston & Bird will serve on the Leadership Council of the organization, and partner Peter Masaitis has been appointed president. The Leadership Council, comprised of eight law firms, will act as an advisory committee to the Board of Directors and provide input on strategy and initiatives. The launch was featured in various publications, including Law360, where Masaitis said in a statement, "The legal profession has historically taken a leadership role in many important societal causes...[t]oday, the needs of the environment and our role as its custodian have become a critical part of our individual and organizational responsibilities, making sustainability an integral part of corporate responsibility policies throughout the business community."
