Alston & Bird Adds Former Congressional Legislative Director in D.C.

Alston & Bird has added Chris Huffaker to its Washington, D.C., office as a member of the firm’s Legislative and Public Policy Group. He will focus on assisting clients with reaching favorable legislative, public policy and regulatory outcomes.

Huffaker comes to Alston & Bird from the office of Rep. Steve Womack (R-AR), where he served as the congressman’s legislative director. He counseled Rep. Womack in his role on the influential House Appropriations Committee and led a legislative team that advised the congressman on the full range of public policy issues that came before the U.S. House of Representatives.

“We are excited to have Chris join our client-focused team,” said Bob Jones, Alston & Bird partner and leader of the firm’s Legislative & Public Policy Group. “Along with his deep knowledge of the issues and process, Chris’ well-regarded profile on Capitol Hill and his thoughtful approach to problem solving will expand the firm’s ability to assist our clients in addressing key public policy and regulatory challenges.”

Alston & Bird’s Legislative and Public Policy Group advises and works with clients in a bipartisan, bicameral manner on key issues at the intersection of business and public policy objectives. Spearheading the group are former Congressional leaders – Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole (R-KS) and Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) – supported by a full-service team of lawyers and professionals who offer client service built upon decades of experience at the highest levels of Washington policymaking.
