Michael Park, counsel in the firm’s Health Care Legislative & Public Policy Group, has been honored with the Community Champion Award for his pro bono service on behalf of Bread for the City, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit community services organization.
Park has been working with Bread for the City since 2011, providing legal advice and counseling in connection with the organization’s successful application for the Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike Program, an initiative of the Health Resources and Services Administration that supports the delivery of health care services to low-income and underserved populations.
In addition to his pro bono work, Park represents clients before Congress and the administration on a wide range of health care legislative and regulatory issues, including Medicaid coverage and reimbursement. Prior to joining Alston & Bird, he served as health policy counsel to Sen. Charles Grassley, then chairman and ranking member of the Senate Committee on Finance, where he developed legislation on issues including Medicare Part A payment policy, health information technology and program integrity.
