Patrick Flinn, partner in Alston & Bird’s Intellectual Property Group, has been named a recipient of the 2014 Georgia State University Intellectual Property Community Service Award.
Georgia State University, the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association sponsor the award, which is given to individuals who demonstrate a longstanding commitment to service benefiting a broad range of people, organizations and interests in the community.
In addition to his many years of pro bono work, Flinn is active in the Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP), which he joined as a board member in 2012. Among his accomplishments, he worked to establish a team of law students to assist GLSP in legal matters for underprivileged students who were facing difficulties in school and helped GLSP renew its trademark registration for the Georgia Legal Services Foundation and defend against a copyright threat from Getty Photos.
