Following President Obama’s recent speech calling for privacy and cybersecurity legislation, Peter Swire, Georgia Institute of Technology professor and senior counsel in the firm’s Privacy & Data Security Practice, commented on how the proposals might fare in Congress.
Swire noted this issue could trigger a fight among committees for responsibility for the issues.
“These inter-committee battles are features of many security and privacy issues,” he said. “So, for example, for information sharing and cybersecurity legislation, there have been battles between Homeland Security and Armed Services.”
