For the 16th consecutive year, Alston & Bird has been named among the top 100 employers in the country by Fortune magazine. Additionally, the firm was further recognized by Fortune as one of the country’s top 10 employers for women.
Fortune’s 18th annual list of America’s “100 Best Companies to Work For®” ranks the firm No. 41, making Alston & Bird the only law firm recognized by Fortune as a best company each year since 2000.
The magazine also ranks Alston & Bird No. 4 on its list of “Top 10 Best Companies for Women,” with women comprising 53 percent of employees firmwide. The firm is one of only two law firms to make the list.
“Being a great firm to work for makes us a great firm to work with,” said Richard Hays, Alston & Bird managing partner. “We believe that if we take good care of our people, they will take good care of our clients.”
Alston & Bird was recognized across a broad range of categories, including culture, the quality of workplace challenges provided to employees, pride and rewards. More than 760 employees were surveyed, with respondents indicating a minimum combined positive rating of 95 percent in each of these categories.
“Creating a workplace culture in which all lawyers and staff members thrive contributes directly to our clients’ success,” said Cathy Benton, chief human resources officer. “I’m incredibly proud of the passion and dedication of all our people in making Alston & Bird an employer of choice and enabling us to attract the best people and deliver the best client service.”
In addition to the Fortune ranking, Alston & Bird has received wide recognition this past year for its exceptional workplace culture and commitment to diversity and inclusion, including:
- Named to Crain’s New York Business “100 Best Places to Work in NYC,” one of only five AmLaw 100 firms to make the list and one of only two firms to appear on both Crain’s list and Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For list.
- Ranked 9th among the country’s “Best Law Firms for Diversity” in the 2015 Vault Guide to the Top 100 Law Firms, in addition to ranking 6th for minorities, 10th for women and 11th for LGBT.
About Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For List
Fortune partners annually with Great Place to Work® to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America to identify the 100 Best Companies to Work For. Two-thirds of a company's survey score is based on the results of the Trust Index© Employee Survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. This survey asks questions related to employees' attitudes about management's credibility, overall job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The other third is based on responses to the Culture Audit©, which includes detailed questionnaires about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, methods of internal communication, training, recognition programs and diversity efforts.
